Jim Bridwell, the Stonemaster made his farewell climb... (1945 - 2018)
The least celebrated of all the Stonemasters, a group of Yosemite climbers that brought dynamic climbing moves to the forefront of the sport, led by the master himself, the old man, The Birdman Jim Bridwell.
The bird was brashy, and his dynamic moves, reaching beyond safety by leaping for "unreachable holds", and elegant foot frictions on seamly smooth granite led his admirers to believe he could fly.
Good by Bird, we will remember you for ever, for your pioneer spirit and for introducing new techniques that transform the sport.
